A wedding dress is often the epitome of single-use fashion. I design my capes for eco-conscious brides who might not want to wear a traditional dress but are still after an original bridal style. I consider the environmental impact of every element of my work, making sustainable choices on materials, production and the lifetime of each cape.
Materials
Every design is knitted from 100% silk; one of the least toxic materials to produce with one of the lowest impacts on climate change of all fibres. The capes are also made in such a way that there’s almost no waste fabric, and any spare material is stored and used as cushion filling.
Production
Every cape is made by hand in my studio in Warwickshire. This means there’s no need to fly designs across the globe and there’s no mass-production of a style only to find it doesn’t sell and needs to be disposed of.
Studio
I run a zero waste studio and the electricity required to run it comes from renewable resources.
Lifetime
Your cape is designed to be enjoyed for more than a day. After your wedding, it can be entirely unravelled to create a new cape, dyed another colour or even mounted to create a bespoke piece of art.
